6 Month Old Daughter Raped and Killed
The article, "Steven Smith, Condemned Killer, Won't Get Mercy From Ohio Gov. John Kasich" was published by Andrew Welsh-Huggins in The Huffington Post. The article is about a man, Steven Smith, who is condemned for killing his girlfriend's six month old daughter, but states that his intentions were to rape her and not kill her. Smith attempted to receive a plea from Republican Governor John Kasich; however, his attempt was to no avail. The child's name was Autumn Carter, and she was killed because Smith was not aware of the pain his assault caused her. Also, he was certainly not aware of the fact, that his assault was killing the innocent six month old girl. Smith was not charged with rape, therefore, the jury had to make a decision whether Smith was guilty for the murder, or not. He was proven guilty, and was sentenced the death penalty. May 1 is the day when he will be executed . Steven Smith will be considered the fifty-first inmate to die, because of the death sentence, in the state of Ohio.

This is a very sad article, but an interesting one. Killing anyone is an unacceptable crime, but killing an innocent six month old baby is unimaginable. Someone who would do something like that deserves to get the death penalty. His stupid remark about the fact that he just wanted to rape her but not kill her makes me sick, raping an innocent baby is no better than killing her. Justice will be served on the first of May, and I hope that beautiful little baby Rests in Peace.
ReplyDeleteRape is already a cruel crime, let alone killing them as well. I agree with Rosemary, the article is very unfortunate because the helpless baby had a long life ahead of her, only to have it taken away so soon. It was pathetic for him to actually think that saying he did not want to rape her would make him innocent. Smith does deserve the punishment he got; he took someone else's life, therefore his should be taken away too.
ReplyDeleteThis article is incredibly sad and it convinced me that people are starting to lose their mind. Which normal person would think about killing a six month old baby, let alone rape them to death. Did he not see the baby's innocent face while committing such a horrible crime? I do not understand how he even tried to make himself look innocent by saying that he was not trying to kill her, he just wanted to rape her. He has a girlfriend for his pleasures and the six month old baby should not have been the one to suffer in this case. Smith deserves this death penalty without a doubt!
ReplyDeleteI felt extremely disgusted when reading your post. As if it was not enough that this man killed a six month old child, he admits that he was attempting to rape her and had no intentions of killing her. The thoughts that runs through people's minds nowadays disgusts me. There was no way of him freeing himself from his crime, and he deserves the punishment he will be receiving.
ReplyDeleteThis man's intentions were not to kill the girl, but to simply rape her. This makes absolutely no sense to me. Raping the girl is just as horrible as killing her. There is nothing that can be justified for "accidentally" killing the girl. Even if he only raped her and she did not die, I still think he would be worthy of a harsh punishment.
ReplyDeleteThis news filled me with disgust and anger. The decision that the jury made was totally fair because people like this are psychologically unstable. Any person that has the idea of raping, killing, or torturing is not considered normal. Regardless, i am happy that this decision was made because people like this have no right to live. This child was only six months old, which is not even close to being old enough to be aware of what is going on around her. Any other decision would have been wrong.
ReplyDeleteDeath penalty seems like showing this man mercy. How can he even think about raping a six year old? How sick could a man be to have to kill a baby in this way? People like this justifies the existence of the death penalty.
ReplyDeleteThis is a sickening story. No human being in their right mind would do such a thing to a baby. He deserves whatever is coming to him.
